COSRX Oil Free Ultra-Moisturising Lotion: Review

Everyone loves some clean and minimalist products. And K-beauty is known for it – and thank the universe for that. Amongst K-beauty, Cosrx stands the tallest when it come to creating products that are no-fuss yet full on value – high concentration of skin beneficial ingredients.

And one of the other lesser known products of the brand is the Cosrx oil free ultra-moisturizing lotion.

Texture

It has a very light milky texture and goes on very light on the skin. It also give your skin a very soft and matte finish and does not make it look oily. I also really like its light and soothing fragrance.

How to apply?

A little goes a long way here. You just need about 2-3 pumps of the product to cover your face and neck.

This is one of the few moisturisers that is good for oily and sensitive skin as it is oil free and gets absorbed fast without leaving a oily cast. You can either use this directly after a facewash or first use a light serum and follow it up with this moisturiser. For dry skin, this is great for calming for dry and parched skin, but you may need something heavier to go on top of this moisturiser, especially in winters.

I’d especially recommend to use this as a moisturiser if you have a sunscreen that makes your skin overtly oily.

It is very difficult to get a moisturiser for your skin, especially if you have sensitive skin. Thankfully Cosrx oil free moisturiser is just that and more! It is oil free and super hydrating making this a good moisturiser for oily and sensitive skin types. It is especially good for calming down any kind of redness that you have on your face.

Ingredient List

Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Betaine, Cetearyl Alcohol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetearyl Olivate, Ethyl Hexanediol, Sorbitan Olivate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Parfum, Allantoin, Panthenol, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Lactate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Polysorbate 60, Aqua/Water, Limonene, Citral

Compared to other Cosrx products, I’d say this one is not as as stellar in its ingredient list. It has added perfume (the light lemony fragrance), silicon (for that silky smooth finish) and cetearyl alcohol (problematic for people with fungal acne).

If you are not sensitive to any of the above products, then I’d Cosrx moisturiser is great! With 70% birch sap, it is great for reducing any sort of redness or irritation on the skin. It has glycerin, allantoin (for soothing skin), Vitamin B5, lactic acid (moisturises) and hyaluronic acid.

Price

The price is on the expensive side in India. You get 100ml of product for ~ Rs 1400. But then the product lasts for a couple of months and is good at doing what it claims – calming down the redness and moisturising skin without making it oily.

In the past, I have ordered this from Korea, at half the price that it is available here.

MRP: Rs 1399/100ml

Product Rating
3/5

Do I love this? Sorta. Ok, so leaving aside the fact, that it is very expensive here and looking at this product from a purely performance point of view – I really like it. I have used this when my skin is having a hard time i.e. especially around my periods (in combination with actives) and it really does help soothe the skin.

But at that price point, I’m unwilling to buy it again from the Indian marketplace. The product is almost a 5 star, but the price at which it is sold in India, brings it down to a overall 3/5.

I have also gifted this to a few of my guy friends and they love it and swear by it. I mean, the same guys who were using soap to wash their hair, now use Cosrx Oil Free Ultra Moisturising Lotion regularly. 😀
