Juicy Chemistry Sacha Inchi, Argan and Mango Butter Hair Mask: Review

I always like using products whose ingredients list are easy to read and understand. Juicy Chemsitry is one of them. It is a Indian homegrown organic brand that uses natural oils and butters in its products.

And, since I had already tried their Juicy Chemistry Damask Rose & Coffee Eye Cream and had a good experience, I decided to give their Sacha Inchi, Argan and Mango Butter Hair Mask a try as well.

What they Claim?

Juicy Chemistry Sacha Inchi, Argan and Mango Butter Hair Mask is a pre-shampoo hair mask. Some of its benefits include:

  • Deep conditions hair from root-to-tip
  • Delivers essential moisture to hair and scalp
  • Makes hair feel softer and more manageable
  • Improves hair texture and makes hair feel smoother

Ingredient List

Hydrogenated cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, Argania spinosa (argan) kernel oil, Plukenetia volubilis (sacha inchi )seed oil, Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, Copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, Prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, Mangifera indica (mango) seed butter, Butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, Tocopherol, Cedrus atlantica (cedarwood) oil, Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) oil, Mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, Matricaria recutita (german chamomile) oil

The ingredient list is full of natural butters and oils.

How to apply?

I use 3-4 pumps for my thick wavy hair that comes up to my upper back (just below the bra). If you have shorter hair, you would need lesser product.

I start applying it on my scalp (if you have dandruff or any other scalp conditions then please do not apply it on the scalp) and then move down all the way till the tip of my hair. If you have dry hair, then focus more on the ends.

Texture and Fragrance

Since it is made from a lot of natural butters the texture is thick. And you would need to pump out a little extra product to cover your entire hair.

It also has a very nice relaxing fragrance of peppermint (it uses peppermint oil).

Views and Results

If you are looking to get hair like those TV commercials, you are bound to be disappointed. Juicy Chemistry Sacha Inchi, Argan and Mango Butter Hair Mask nourishes your hair, but no astounding results there. I have used it a couple of times, and it makes my hair look healthy. It feels a little soft – almost the same as what a normal oil application would do, before a hair wash. I did not see any added shine or reduction of frizz (but then the product never promises this in the first place).

Also, since it is a organic product its shelf life is just 6 months after opening it. Another con is that since it is made of so many natural butters, it does tend to become a little hard in the winters making it difficult to pump out. But you can easily put this in hot water and it comes back to its normal state again.

When to apply?

As suggested my JC, use this as a pre-shampoo mask – apply it to your hair an hour or so before you take a hair wash and then wash it off with a good cleansing shampoo (don’t use mild ones or you won’t be able to wash it off).

If you have thick, coarse hair you can also try using a small amount of it after having washed your hair, as a leave-in conditioner.

Price

Juicy Chemistry is one of the few ECOCERT certified brands in the country. Meaning unlike other brands that do a mere lip service to being organic, these products are actually organic (though the regulations are pretty lax in our country for getting the organic certification). And because it is certified organic, most of its price offerings are on the higher side.  Which is why we get just 75gms of this products for Rs 900 (I bought it during the season end sale and got it for Rs 450).

Considering it is organic and has so many natural butters in it. I feel the price is justified. But, I will be hesitant buying the product at its full price.

Product Rating
3.8/5

If you are bored of your normal pre-shampoo oils and are looking for something different to apply to your hair before washing your hair then you should give Juicy Chemistry Sacha Inchi, Argan and Mango Butter Hair Mask a try.

Is it good for you hair? Considering that it is made from natural oils and butters, it is definitely good for your hair. It is free from sillicones, parabens and other nasty chemicals. But please do not expect any magical results. It moisturises and nourishes your hair, but that is it. But for what it claims, I say it delivers – just a bottle of hair oil/butter that is good for your hair and has no added nasty chemicals.

If you are looking to move towards green products that do not have any nasty chemicals, then you should definitely give this a try. For others, it is not a must, and there are other pre-shampoo masks (with sillicon) that would give your hair a better finish. 🙂
