COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence: Review

H-y-a-l-u-r-o-n-i-c acid. This is one of the most popular ingredient in the skincare industry right now. From countless creams to serums, lot of products are entering the market, which contain hyaluronic acid and which promise – intense hydration and a moist and supple looking skin.

I have dehydrated skin myself and was on the lookout of something that would inject some moisture into my skin. I had bought this serum two years back and I haven’t looked back since.

cosrx hyaluronic acid essence

Hyaluronic acid and skin

It hydrates and smoothens the skin, reduces fine lines, heals your skin tissues and overall helps reduce the signs of ageing.

Even though it has the word acid associated it, hyaluronic acid is gentle and safe on the skin. Hyaluronic acid molecule occurs naturally in the skin which binds to the water on your skin to plump up your skin

Texture

It doesn’t have any fragrance and is light and runny when you take it on your hands.

How to apply?

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, which means it helps to hold the water on to your skin. So you need to to seal this with another product for it to be effective.

Just two to three pumps is enough for your entire face. After cleansing your face, when your face is still a little wet – apply this. Seal this with a moisturiser for this product to actually do its work. You can use any good moisturiser for oily skin or dry skin.

Results

This easily gets absorbed on the the skin and leaves my skin looking bouncy and moisturised. After I have topped it up with a moisturiser. I use the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence – my sensitive oily skin loves this. <3

Ingredient List

Hippophae Rhamnoides Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Ethyl Hexanediol

Like most of the Cosrx products this also has a clean ingredient list, with little to no fillers. No icky ingredients here. And no essential oils or flower extracts – which are basically diluted essential oils (some skin types may react to essential oils).

This means that it is highly recommended for people with sensitive skin and who have reacted to the other hyaluronic serums in the market.

How Often to Apply?

You can apply it once a day, and follow it up with a moisturiser. You can even go up to two times a day.

It is also safe to use along with other actives like AHA, BHA, glycolic acid, etc.

Price

I used to order this from Korea, at almost 60% of the the price that it is available in India. And it breaks my wallet (and my heart) every time I see the inflated price that it is sold at here.

The price is on the expensive side (sigh) in India, but is totally worth it. You can check out other k-beauty websites (limese, macarron, beautybarn etc) to find the best deals.

It is still cheap when compared to other brands which are selling 30ml of hyaluronic acid (HA) serum for ~Rs 500 (making it Rs 2000 for 100ml), while this is 100ml of HA serum at ~Rs 1500. And of course so much better in quality!

MRP: Rs 1499/100ml

Cosrx hyaluronic hydra power essence is another of my holy grail product. It gets absorbed into the skin and makes my skin look plump and healthy.

Sadly the price at which it is available in India is very high. I’m still on the lookout for alternative websites outside from where I can get this delivered. That being said, it is still cheaper than the hyaluronic serums that are sold by Indian brands, that retails for around Rs 500 for 30ml of product.

Please Note:

Always follow a hyaluronic serum with a moisturiser. Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant, meaning it draws moisture into the skin from the surrounding. You need a moisturiser or some serum/essence to top this to actually seal in the moisture on to your skin.

If you do not apply a moisturiser/serum after using Hyaluronic acid it will dry out your skin.
